2015

365 days is both a lot and a little. 525,600 minutes make up a year, at least according to Google that's a pretty large number. It's also 12 months, with 4 seasons. Out of a 70 year life, which is about the average life expectancy those numbers get smaller though. 70 years are 25,550 days and 613,200 hours.
So that's one year broken down in some numbers. In a way, a single year can be insignificant but it is also chalk full of opportunity. I don't put much stock into New Years resolutions but that may be the closest I get for '16 - just to see the opportunities that I have and take advantage of them. I've had plenty of fun this year and made some good memories but I'm sure I missed some opportunities as well. So here's to doing better in the next 525,600 minutes.
As has seemed to become my custom I'm going to go ahead and do my review of the year, after the jump!

Chapter 1.?

When I started this blog, back in September 2010, it was mostly about what was going on with me on the regular in school then it morphed and became about internship primarily. Well then my life kinda flipped and I had a lot less to write about and really didn't feel like writing about my life. Well in recent months it became about what I was seeing and thinking about, again. Kinda went full circle on that and I think the circle or cycle to be more accurate is continuing on.
Post jump it's going to be a short post, I think, but since I like to keep track of reading numbers I'm going to go with anyway.

Word(s) of the year

As I'm sure many of you are aware, there's a thing that happens each year at this time, people try to figure out a word for the coming year. Something related to a goal or a piece of information that they feel confident about going into the next year.
And while I am not going to disparage that practice because it's important to have goals and a single word can potentially encapsulate that, I'm going a different direction with this. A word that I think describes my 2015.

That and more after the break!

Religion

I can't say I know exactly how to approach this one, but I do know what I want to say, hopefully I can say it the best way possible.
I started thinking about this a few weeks ago, after someone said to me that they aren't "religious." It sparked a series of thoughts about what it means to be religious. What is religion. What damage may have been done to those who consider themselves non-religious, by those who practice the various world religions.
Now for those who are picky about grammar, I chose not to use the question marks because I don't want any answers to those questions here but wanted to demonstrate some of my specific questioning thoughts.
I think that's enough of a lead in so jump time!

Smoke & Fire

I had the thought to write this one on Friday or Saturday but then I ended up working from Friday afternoon till this morning so I didn't get a chance. I might be a little too tired to write and have everything make sense, but I'm going to give it a go before I forget, or get swept up in the next week and the topic becomes irrelevant.
But, before I continue, a little music.

Blessed

It's been a few days of thinking on this and figured it was time to get my thoughts in order.
I had a question about what it means to be "blessed" so I looked it up in the dictionary. The first definition that was given surprised me in a pretty dramatic fashion.
The dictionary said that it means to be Consecrated but I'll get into it more after the jump.

ID

Newsflash: I'm a sports fan.
Ok, that's not news, unless you don't know anything about me.
A few days ago, last Thursday to be exact, a little thing called the NFL started the regular season. My favorite team played for the first time this season last night. Not a great game, but that's not completely relevant.
Yesterday, when I woke up I decided to go to the gym to workout. Well, it was also game day so I wanted to rep my team all day. So I put on a t-shirt and went to the gym.
After getting back and getting cleaned up I put on the jersey that I planned to wear the rest of the day. Like all other jersey's it had a players name on the back, was the colors of the team, and had the teams logo on the jersey as well.
All things that clearly displayed that I was identifying myself with that team. But it got me thinking about that topic, identification.
I'll get into it some more after the jump :)

...?

I didn't have much of an intro for this one, but want to keep track of whats happening with this little slice of the internet.

Stream of consciousness

Been thinking about a bunch of different things lately; leadership, the future, friendship, life, haven't been able to pin point if I should write about any of them or something different but I feel compelled to do some writing.
Maybe that's not a good enough reason. Feelings/emotions are not a trustworthy OS; that's tech language for Operating System, for those who don't know. It's not a good way to live life, I know by experience yet I feel like I should do some writing.
Maybe I'll just hit on all of them and/or others as it goes. It's hard to say, but I'll try to have it make sense.

Purpose

I have to admit that I'm not exactly sure how this one will turn out. I pretty much always just write as the thoughts come and hope that it makes sense. This one though feels different. Maybe more personal, which would say a lot because I always try to be personal with what I write.
As the letters spell I am gonna talk about purpose. I've been thinking about it in a round about way the past week or so but got struck with the inspiration to write while at work today.
Well, here goes!

Shifting sand

I doubt I am, but I may be the only one who has noticed that everyone, every thing is subject to popular opinion.
A tweet, a speech, an article, can change what people, companies, even governments, choose to do.
The shifting sand of opinions, it's a dangerous thing. Letting an angry mob of opinions run things only compounds the danger.
In this age few things refuse to compromise, to not let the assault of the angry change what is thought, said and done.
No big mystery what I'm going to focus on after the jump but I'll let whatever amount of surprise there is be for after the jump.

A great hope

I heard this song a few weeks ago at the end of a movie and have been hearing it on the radio repeatedly since then. As modern, popular songs go it's pretty good and has message worth considering.
I've got the song and my consideration of it, after the jump.

Light. Life.

A fun,  natural example of how things go has been happening in my apartment this week. Before I continue, just to be clear it's nothing sinful or questionable but fun.

commerciaLIESation

Hey
Just a heads up, this is a straight up rant. When approaching sensitive, controversial or major topics I try to write with tact but directness. Well for this one I'm going to dispense with the tact, for the most part.

A rant.

So that's the warning. If you want to know the subject you'll have to read on. If you are sensitive about blunt directness or about the topic that I'm going to be spouting about then you won't want to read much past the jump if at all.

Anyway, here goes!

Completion

Good Evening

Earlier I was at Canvas and the speaker was talking about Romans 8: 31-39. Well, as often happens when I write, I was specifically inspired by the message. I'll get into the specifics after the jump.

Marvelous

I might be alone in this, though I doubt it, but some times I have a thought that just changes my perspective so drastically. Well that happened again a few days ago I was watching a certain video, which I intend to link in the main part of this post and it started me quite a chain of thoughts, also which I will discuss after the jump.

So without further adieu

Strong enough

I had this thought a week ago but haven't gotten around to get my thoughts out until now.
A simple yet profound truth. Pretty universally agreed upon by everyone, even those who disagree wildly upon specifics.
What is such a thing, you may ask?
You'll have to hit the link to find out!

Mashup 1.0

So as the title says, this post is going to be a mash up of a few different things that have really stood out to me in the last couple of days. 1.0 just because I haven't done one covering multiple topics, I don't think. If I'm wrong well then I'd change it, but until then I'm going to go with the 1.0

:-D

Miracles

So this one hit me between the eyes yesterday. It took me a day to get to writing it because I was watching "The Walking Dead" last night and had work today but thankfully I had enough common sense to make note of the topic so that I wouldn't forget, because writing helps me to remember the thoughts.

So is that enough of an introduction? Maybe not but I'm going to roll with it!

Faithfulness from the Smallest

He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”

New year, same old?

Another post that's a little past when I want to do it because of the holiday busyness.
A few days prior to New years eve I was thinking about the past year, as I and many others do on that occasion. Even now I find my thought process to be curious though. I quite honestly had the best year of my life in many ways in 2014 but still had the thoughts that I did.
Is that enough of a tease? Hopefully cause it's all I've got :-D. Now onto the jump and the majority of the post.

Reaction, being blind

I originally started this a few weeks ago but time got away from me with the holidays so this isn't extremely current but I'm still going to go with it!

It's been quite a while since I cracked open the old macbook to spout my thoughts on here. A main reason why I had such a prolonged absence was that I was without a computer for several months, since like may, actually. I probably could have used public use computers but I didn't have much that I wanted to say over that time either. I'm not saying that I'm back to writing often, but for at least one more night I have somethings to say, so check it out!
