There's a lot more to say but I will save it for after the jump.
Well let me just start with what got me all fired up about this. I was reading through the creation account while doing some homework and something in Genesis 2:7 stuck out to me like it never had before. In speaking about the formation of the first man, Adam, the translation uses LORD God. Which in the hebrew is the name for God which could not be spoken, the I AM. Well I had the thought that it may be speaking of Jesus in that passage. I couldn't think of any concrete evidence to support that thought so I asked my teacher this morning.
He quickly pointed me to John 1:1 - 4.
The Deity of Jesus Christ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.
I read it and really was doing all that I could to hold myself together. Because when I had been reading through it last night I had a series of thoughts which made me break down without concrete evidence that it was Jesus.
My thoughts, the mental picture that I got, went like this - I saw Jesus kneeling down in the dust and formed Adam from the dust. Starting from his head and slowing molding every part of his body, even the organs inside him. I imagined that while this molding process was going on Jesus was speaking a tender set of words over his creation. The monologue went this way:
"I know that by creating you I am guaranteeing my own suffering.
You will screw up everything that I have created but I love you so I am willing to continue.
For your sin I will be tortured and suffer.
I want relationship with you and will do whatever it takes to make that happens.
Your sin will not keep you from me."
I hate extra biblical interpretation. When people come up with stuff that really has no bearing in what the text says specifically it really irritates me but man this wrecks me. Jesus loves us. I've heard it all my life, but man it's so real.
I give that video as evidence that Christ's suffering was in the plan from the very beginning of man's existence. The next video has the same purpose. It's the fifth video of sermon again by Louie Giglio so it won't all make sense but the point is clear, Christ knew what was coming from the beginning of creation and did it anyway. All because He loves us.
